Vodka

Creating vodka can be kind of a wild card, but the final product has to be colorless, odorless and tasteless. Vodka is primarily composed of ethanol (drinking alcohol) and water. Traditionally made from potatoes, corn or grains, vodka is the iconic spirit from the Northern European countries. Produced in a high-volume, continuous column still, continuous filtering is done to remove any and all impurities. Unlike Cognac, rum or whiskey, vodka is clear and does not need aging in order to be enjoyed. It is a staple in cocktail bars everywhere and the main ingredient in some classics like the Moscow Mule, the Cosmopolitan and the Vodka Tonic. Moving away from the restriction that vodka needs to be tasteless, some vodka producers have created infusions and flavored-vodkas to please their consumers.
